Aurora Aksnes first musical memory was discovering a piano within her loft and being intrigued by its sounds. Her parents May-Britt along with Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to take up music not as a profession or a pastime, but as a way to develop. She started writing her own songs. Bjork as well as Leonard Cohen are among her favorite composers. After her mom said that her songs can not only aid in her efforts to gain fame, however, they could also help others understand their significance in the world and realize the possibilities for the songs and her music, she was inspired to start performing publicly. As a young girl, she began to play the piano and at nine began writing her own songs. Her family didn't be aware of this until she was fourteen. Aurora was not a dream of her childhood. The only thing she loves is writing songs. For her, the music she writes is how she feels about anything.
