Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, also known professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female to be signed with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. On the 21st of October, 2016 she debuted Pho, her first EP under the Dreamville Records label. It was at this point that she first gained notoriety. Her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox has uploaded her music on the internet since 2012 following the release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014, she released more music via the Internet including Bound. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes and in Sweat It Out July 21st in 2015. J. Cole had her submit her tracks for the Dreamville Team later that year because he was hoping for Rihanna to be able work together on a few references. In December 2008, it was announced that Rihanna had been hired with Dreamville Records. In the release album Revenge of the Dreamers II, she appeared on the song Backseat along with Cozz. In October of 2016 she dropped her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performer to J. Cole on his song Change in 2017, and appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. She also appeared on the songs Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus along with Bas and her labelmates. Ari Lennox's debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on the 16th of July, 2018. The first single, called Whipped Cream, from the album dropped on September 5, 2018 with an accompanying music video. Then on the 9th of November 2018 the singer released two more singles called 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). On November 13 she dropped two more singles, titled No One as well as Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby was then able to make an appearance in the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She dropped this single as a way to celebrate her debut album titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. The 20th of February, 2019, a music clip was made available for the track. The track has received over 3 million hits on YouTube in its first week. She was one of the support acts for 6LACK on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December of 2018.
